Rome, Orvieto, and Lazio for the Cognoscenti: May 6-16, 2019

Whether you have been to Rome before or this will be your first visit, our trip to the Eternal City contains sights specially chosen to delight you by our Resource Person Professor Ken Bartlett. By the end of this tour, you will indeed be one of the “cognoscenti”, those “in the know” about Rome!

Our journey will take us through time from the Etruscans, through the ancient Romans, the artists and architects of the Renaissance, the 20th century and up to today, and will feature sumptuous palaces, idyllic gardens, magnificent paintings and sculpture, sublime churches, delicious food and wine plus a few surprises. We have included the city’s “must sees” and some exclusive visits not usually available to the public. Our boutique hotel is within walking distance of many of Rome’s main attractions.

In addition to the city itself, we will venture into the region of Lazio to take in some wonderful sights. We will spend three nights near Orvieto in a former monastery, now converted into a lovely four-star hotel.
