Experience the Autumn Grape Harvest in Italy

Tuscany: renowned for rolling hillsides blanketed with olive groves and vinyards juxstaposed against hilltop towns oozing character and history. This year, travel to the heart of Italy where you will wine, dine and reside in style. From fabulous spas to ancient noble palazzos, Georgia Hardy Tours has created a custom itinerary for a small group of fortunate individuals to truly sample the best that Florence, Tuscany and Rome have to offer.

Program Itinerary:

Day 1: Toronto - Rome
Evening departure from Toronto airport to Rome.

Day 2: Rome - Monecatini
Upon arrival to Rome, journey to the heart of Tuscany. Stop at an historic winery and enjoy a specially selected tasting flight and complementary antipasto. 

Day 3: Spa day in Montecatini 
Leisurely soak in the famous sulphuric healing waters of Montecatini! Traditional dinner this evening.

Day 4: San Gimignano - Wine Tasting - Florence
Experience a famous Tuscan winery followed by the iconic hill-town of San Gimignano.  Following the visit to San Gimignano, continue to Florence, the capital of the Renaissance. This evening, dine at an authentic Tuscan restaurant and enjoy a superlative meal. Che Buono!

Day 5: Florence
Tour Florence with a local Florentine guide who will provide the group with “insider” information and anecdotes as you explore the Piazza Del Duomo, Santa Croce, Ponte Vecchio and the San Lorenzo leather market. The afternoon will be spent at leisure, followed by a delicious dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 6: Free day in Tuscany
Enjoy a full day to discover everything this region has to offer. An optional excursion to Venice will be organized by Georgia Hardy Tours for those wishing to spend the day in Venice. Overnight in Florence.

Day 7: Florence - Rome
Depart Florence in the morning with an enroute stop at an agritourismo (Italian: agricultural farm) in the heart of Lazio to taste wine and olive oil from the region. Enjoy a guided walking tour of Rome that will serve as a fantastic introduction to the “Eternal City”.  Dinner will be served in a traditional Roman restaurant.

Day 8: Rome
Today is a free day in Rome. Visit the Vatican, Forum or Colosseum. Sit in a piazza and soak in the hustle and bustle of a Roman afternoon. Culinary-inclined participants can spend the afternoon enjoying a Roman cooking class with a seasoned Italian chef in Trastevere. Perhaps you will end up in Ristorante La Carbonara,which dominates one side of Rome’s Campo de Fiori and claims to be the first restaurant in Rome to serve the iconic “penne alla carbonara”.

Day 9: Rome
Free day in Rome and your last full day in Italy. Do some last minute shopping and enjoy a beautiful farewell dinner with views overlooking Rome’s magnificent skyline.

Day 10: Rome - Toronto
Bid Italia “A Presto”.... Early morning departure for your return flight home.
 

Optional Excursions:

Venice: Journey to La Serenissima for the day and experience the incomparable city built on the lagoon.  Travel up the Grand Canal and admire the famous palaces, sit in a cafe in the Piazza San Marco, visit the Doge's Palace and tour the principal sites including the Basilica and Rialto Bridge. ($200 per person)

Vatican Museum and Vatican City: Your private guide will take you on an infomative and enlightening tour of the treasures of the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica, the world's largest Catholic church.  ($100 per person)

Cooking Class in Rome: Food is a large part of the Italian culture and learning how to prepare different dishes and to understand the preparation is a wonderful way to spend the afternooon. Come have your first experience in a Roman kitchen and learn every secret that goes into each delicious bite! (Cost TBD)
