Experience England
London & Oxford
July 1 to July 27, 2010
London is one of the most exciting and diverse cities in the world – rich in history, yet strikingly modern and cosmopolitan. Imagine living and studying surrounded by famous landmarks such as Big Ben, Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and Buckingham Palace!
Live in the heart of London’s Bloomsbury district and a short walk from Russell Square and the British Museum. Cruise down the historic Thames River to visit Greenwich. Stroll through Covent Garden, Piccadilly, and Leicester Square. Students and teachers can take advantage of some of the finest museums and galleries in the world by visiting the Tate, National Gallery, and Victoria & Albert Museum, to name a few. We will also enjoy a performance and backstage tour at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.
Oxford is one of the oldest and most celebrated university towns in Europe, and among the most significant in historical and architectural importance. The “city of dreaming spires” has been home to Oxford University for almost 1000 years, and is characterized by the unique collection of towers and domes rising above the skyline from the university’s many colleges. Students will have the privilege of residing at St. Edward’s School, one of England’s pre-eminent boarding schools located minutes from Oxford’s city centre. The school boasts world class facilities including 90 acres of sports fields.
Students will be stimulated and intrigued by class discussions and assignments that directly relate to the sites and settings visited during the program. Numerous excursions are included, while optional excursions invite students to discover the spectacular town of Bath, Stonehenge, Warwick Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon and Windsor Castle.
